Analysis

As I noticed the goal of this activity is to raise awareness of risk of drug to middle school students and make them avoid using illegal drug such as marijuana, I should have consider could I spread the knowledge to surroundings from the point view of global issue. I thought I should include some detail for the ways to spread the awareness of risk of drug. For example introducing the organizations, which conduct anti-drug campaigns.

Conclusion

The lecture somehow provide me the vision for my presentation for middle school students. I would like to convey the risk through the actual images of drugs and its symptons and the actual laws against the drugs in China. I also gained some new knowledge such that the abused of drug does not only contribute to damaging ones health, but it also harmful to social moral and economic efficiency as it sould be the case that the drug might related to organized criminal activities, such as money laundering and political corruption, in support of the drug trade.

Action plans

I found that it was a good approach to take some interview about how individuals think about the abuse of drug and what they would behave at particular situations during the class. The research student took statistic of the interview and visualized it to us. Therefore, I would like to try the similar approach in my activity. For example, accruing out the discussion about the awareness of drug and share the consciousness of how to spread out that awareness.

 

 

Description

We went to a drug museum and saw the actual drugs. At the museum, we saw the and experienced the relative size, shape and colors of the drugs that we would never obtained from internet research. We were also taught how these drugs are sold and bought. Finally, we watched a video about how people would feel when they take drug in the real.

Feelings

The experience of visiting the museum and seeing the actual objects and a visual simulation of how people who took drug would see the world had enhance me the solid feeling of acquiring knowledge through connecting the knowledge of adverse effects of drugs in the brain and physical experiences of simulation of their adverse effects.

Evaluation

The physical experience made me rethink about the potential risk of addiction and abuses of drugs. For example, it gave me the realization that it is hard to get over drug once people took it. Therefore, it is a major problem to discuss and share the consciousness about how to avoid illegal drug completely. The experience in the museum that seeing actual object strongly remind us that the effective sharing of knowledge and the raising of awareness of risk of drug cannot only be done through words. The actual activity to connecting the knowledge and sense might be required. The first intuitive idea about the activity was the discussion and sharing of the feeling towards the effects of drugs. The activity then might contribute to reduction of criminal rate if they were able to internalize the awareness of the adverse effects of drugs. As the drug such as stimulant and marijuana are also consumed in China.

Analysis

I realized that watching a video is another good way to convey the risk of drugs to middle school students as I noticed that knowledge or information without interaction of senses such as visual sense and sense of touch was not efficient enough to internalize the awareness, and it would contribute to the consciousness of avoiding use of drug for middle school students.

Conclusion

The visiting of museum made me realized another approach for shearing the consciousness against drug. The actual connection between the physical sense and the knowledge of risk of drug.

Action plans

I decided to plan to involve a video during our lecture for middle school students, so that middle school students can connect their knowledge to the actual sense through visual sense. The activity of discussion about the awareness of risk of drug would be the choice as well.

Description

I discussed with my members about the context of presentation and decided that we would focus on introducing the drugs that have high tolerance and risk of addiction. Moreover, in order to attract their mind and interest, we looked for a video about the drug as a support, since we had experience that the actual image would contribute to acquiring knowledge. We also planned to keep some time for having discussion during the lecture so that to internalize the awareness of risk of drugs. In addition, in order to provide physical experience we planned hire another time for let them carrying out short play.

Feelings

Although I thought that I had enough groundwork for planning presentation, it was unexpectedly hard to convey effectively the danger of drug by using my words. We spent much effort on making the presentation in a shorter time, since it was easily predicted that students would lose concentration if I provide a lengthy presentation and it would oppose the aim of activity, as they would have no power to listen carefully. I was struggled with coming up of ideas that how could I effectively express the risk of drug within that limited time so that to achieve the goal that to make middle school student avoid drug abuse.

Evaluation

I thought that we were effectively involved some key features in order to raise the awareness of risk of taking illegal drugs. For example, we would provide basic knowledge of image of drugs such as stimulus and marijuana, and their adverse effects by presentation; encourage internalizing the consciousness by discussion about how we should face against the drug and connecting .knowledge by physical experience and simulation through watching video and design and perform a short play about how to actually avoid using drugs.

Analysis

As we shared the consciousness among members the limitation of informing the risk of drug only through words without the solid image, we all agreed using a video and through discuss, we were able to select the video that matches theme of presentation. The effect of discussion and short play were unknown, and they were notable features for giving reflections. I thought that discussion and the short play could be the significant factors to achieve middle school students to avoid illegal drugs as they involved interaction of brain and the body.

Conclusion

Through the neat discussion with members, I thought that we had prepared well enough, for the context, however we were lack of presenting experience and it might be overcome by constant practice.
